6 Rare Habits To Set Yourself Apart From Your Competition

There is an abundance of opportunity, and with that, comes an abundance of people who are trying to grasp at it.

That creates overlap in the number service providers and product sellers for the services and products consumers are looking for.

So, how do you win in a “saturated” market?

Here are 6 habits that are rare to find in a sea of entrepreneurs, and these are the 6 habits that will set you apart from everyone else who is swimming:

1. Surround yourself with people who are better than you.

Don’t be intimidated by others; instead, be inspired by them.

As Kevin Trudeau puts it, “The first basic of success is to listen to those who have what you want, and who have been where you are”.

If you are the smartest person in the room in which you are standing in, do yourself and your goals a favor… LEAVE.

You need to infiltrate circles and communities of people who are achieving more than you are, so you can learn from them.

2. Seek out feedback and apply it.

Another basic success rule is to maintain a high teachability index, which is made up of two parts — the first being your willingness to learn.

So often, people play the victim and justify their actions and behaviors, even (and especially) when they aren’t seeing the results they want. They point fingers and place blame, which keeps them swimming in the pool of mediocrity.

Those who are willing to ask for constructive criticism from those who have what they want and are eager to apply the feedback given without making it so personal, are those who set themselves apart.

Those are the people who make massive moves, in a short amount of time.

3. Approach everything with an open mind.

The second part of the teachability index is your willingness to accept change.

So many people fear change, when ironically, change is the only real constant thing in life and in business. But it’s that fear that keeps minds closed, and growth stagnant.

You never know what opportunity, or which person, or when an event or interaction will change everything for your business — and if you believe you already know it all, then you will actually never know.

There is always, always, always something more you can learn (or unlearn). Always.

4. Go for “No”.

Rejection is a good thing. Read that again.

Learning how to handle rejection, learn from it, and adjust moving forward holds so much value — both in mindset and in practicality.

If you aren’t being told “No” by your clients or prospects regularly, it likely means you are not asking enough people, frequently enough.

Shoot your shot, and do it often. Being told “No” won’t kill you.

5. Take care of how you look.

This may seem superficial, but it actually has very little to do with how others perceive you, and everything to do with what it tricks your brain into…

Feeling your best.

When you a dressed for success, you will feel like success, so you will then actively think about success. And when you are thinking about success, you are attracting success.

Eat right, move your body, wear clothes that fit well. These small things may seem tedious and unimportant, but they really do go a long way.

6. Write handwritten thank you cards.

In our digital-everything age, sending your clients and prospects handwritten notes that are sent through the mail…

in an envelope…

with a stamp…

will make you far more memorable than if you simply sent a text or email.

Not only does it make the recipient of your note feel special, but it also impregnates their brain into believing that you are willing to go above and beyond for them — which, you are (or should be).

Just trust me on this one.

Jim Rohn once said, “What’s easy to do is also easy not to do”.

This 6 habits are, in fact, easy to cultivate.

The question becomes then… will you do them?

If not, you’ll stay in the swimming pool with everyone else.

If so, you’ll quickly stop swimming and start winning.

Time to win.
