Someone once said, “We generally change ourselves for one of two reasons: inspiration or desperation.”

That was the infamous Jim Rohn, one of the greatest business mentors of all time. And I think it’s safe to say that anyone who has ever made a decision and took action to change their situation can narrow down the reason why to one of these two catalysts (if not both).

I know that’s how it happened for me — I was desperate. I had a wife, three kids, one on the way, and more month at the end of the money.

But here’s the thing… I made a decision that I wasn’t going to let my family down any longer, and I took immediate action to hold myself accountable.

And when I did, the #1 hack I credit my success to is this:

I created internal anxiety, on purpose, so that I had no choice but to succeed.

I thought about my goals so much — all day long — and included them in every conversation and action to keep them forefront. To keep the anxiety building.

I knew that if I continued to keep my internal thermometer hot, that one day I was going to figure this out.

One day I was going to push myself to the max.
One day I was going to come home to a new house.
One day I was going to find the success I longed for so deeply.

One day… You can, too. You just have to make a choice.

One day, something will either inspire you so much that your choice to build up that anxiety will come with an overwhelming excitement, or something will make you so desperate that your choice to build up that anxiety will be the only choice you have left.
